Seedling Raising Method of Eggplants Seedling Trays

1. Selection of Eggplants Seedling Trays

The seedlings with two leaves and one heart can use 288 hole disc, the seedlings with 4-5 leaves can use 128 hole disc, and the seedlings with 5-6 leaves can use 72 hole disc.

2. Matrix preparation

The peat and vermiculite are mixed in the ratio of 2:1 as the matrix. The matrix for 288 hole discs is 2.8m3 per 1000 discs, the matrix for 128 hole discs is 3.7m3 per 1000 discs, and the matrix for 72 hole discs is 4.7m2 per 1000 discs.

3. Fertilizer application

After mixing the fertilizer and substrate evenly, spray fertilizer on the leaf surface for 2-3 times in combination with water spraying when the seedling has three leaves and one heart.

4. Sow

The seeds are treated and then sown. The sowing depth of 128 hole disc and 288 hole disc is generally 0.5-1cm, and the sowing depth of 78 hole disc is generally greater than 1cm. After sowing, it is covered with vermiculite.

5. Watering

(1) After sowing, the seedling tray shall be sprayed with water to make the water holding capacity of the substrate more than 1%.

(2) When the cotyledon expanded to 2 leaves and 1 heart, the water content of the substrate was 70-75% of the maximum water holding capacity.

(3) From 3 leaves and 1 heart to the sales period of commercial seedlings, the water content is 65-70% of the maximum water holding capacity.

6. Temperature management

(1) During germination, keep the temperature at 25-30 ℃ during the day. When 60% of the seeds in the seedling tray are covered with soil, the seedling tray can be moved into the seedling greenhouse.

(2) After entering the greenhouse, the temperature generally needs to be higher than 25 ℃ during the day and 18-20 ℃ at night.

(3) After 2 leaves and 1 heart, the temperature drops to about 15 ℃ at night, not lower than 12 ℃, and ventilation can be carried out during the day according to the situation to reduce the relative humidity of the air.

7. Seedling filling and dividing

When the first true leaf is unfolded, fill up the missing seedling holes. In order to facilitate seedling filling, when raising eggplant seedlings with 72 hole disc, you can first sow them into the 288 hole seedling disc, and then move them into the 72 hole seedling disc when the small seedlings grow to 1-2 true leaves.
